Annual Shakespeare’s Festival

Northfield School and Sports College are once again preparing to participate in the annual School Shakespeare Company production for our third year in a row.

Our Key Stage 3 cast are eagerly learning this year’s production of The Taming of the Shrew and have had the pleasure of working with professional actors at Middlesbrough Theatre in preparation for their final performance in November. Students are creating quality work and tackling some very difficult Shakespearean language, making themselves and staff very proud.

As part of Northfield’s production team, we took two technical students alongside the crew who have been working with backstage manager, Andy, to gain some basic training in lighting and sound which they will be running throughout our performance. Year 9 students, James and Oliver said, “it’s really interesting seeing how things work” and “I’m really looking forward to the night!”

The staff who attended the rehearsal at Middlesbrough Theatre were astounded at the professionalism and imagination students brought to the rehearsal and the crew praised the Northfield students on their maturity and politeness throughout the morning session.

Well done to all our cast and crew for a good start to the show!
