England Football Recruit Mr Alderson

Northfield School PE teacher Mr Alderson has started his role as England Football U18 Schoolboy Assistant Manager that will last 2 years and then he will become the England U18 Manager for a further two years. Mr Alderson has worked very hard to achieve this fantastic opportunity, firstly achieving success with Cleveland County Schools U18's Football teams over the last 10 years and also completing the prestigious UEFA A Advanced Coaching Licence. He has also coached football part time at Middlesbrough FC and Newcastle FC academies. Prior to coaching he played mainly semi professional football but also had a brief spell professionally for York City FC and Newcastle United FC reserves and youth team as a youngster.

Mr Alderson said "I set myself a target to become the England U18 Schoolboy Manager so I am delighted to get this once in a lifetime opportunity. The ESFA are a fantastic organisation and I have really enjoyed working with them for the last 10 years. Mr Walker is delighted and proud to have an England coach at Northfield School and has been very understanding and supportive of my role and commitments involved and I really appreciate this. However, we do play Scotland on Friday 3rd March in the first Centenary Shield game and I don't think Mr Walker will be supporting England".

The Home Nations Centenary Shield games are as follows:-
Friday 3rd March v Scotland at St Mirren FC
Friday 24th March v Northern Ireland at Torquay United FC
Thursday 13th April v Republic of Ireland at Shamrock Rovers FC
Friday 21st April v Wales at Bristol Rovers FC

"The aim is to retain the Centenary Shield which is a very difficult task as everyone loves to beat the English, just ask Mr Walker. We have had a great start though as we beat Australia U18 Schoolboys 5-2 last weekend at Lilleshall so the squad and management are confident and looking forward to the difficult fixtures ahead. The trial process started last October and Ben Lavelle (Manager) and myself have spent hours travelling and watching games up and down the country. We feel we have the best players available from 6th Forms and Colleges throughout the Country and with some hard work and self belief we should enjoy the season".

Everyone at Northfield School would like to wish him success for the forthcoming International fixtures.

Well done and good luck!
