Nissan Discovery Event
On the 19th and 20th November Y9 & Y10 GCSE Design & Technology students and Y8 STEM club had the opportunity to visit Nissan and take part in their Engineering discovery event. The event was held in conjunction with the Government’s “See Inside Manufacturing” programme. The initiative hopes to inspire young people to consider careers in advanced manufacturing and engineering, and to challenge negative perceptions about the UK’s manufacturing industry.
Engineering plays a major part in every aspect of our lives, and the event showed students its importance to Nissan. The event looked at all the models made at the Sunderland plant and in particular the 100% electric Nissan LEAF. Students took part in a range of team engineering activities and also were taken on a plant tour to see the Nissan cars in production.
