Northfield Students Win Business Competition at Stockton Sixth Form College
On Thursday 15th June, a group of year 9 and 10 students traveled to Stockton Sixth Form College to take part in a Business competition which was run by ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). They worked in teams of 6 and had to develop ideas for a new ‘Smoothie’ making business. They were competing against a range of local schools and both Northfield groups did extremely well. The year 10 students won the competition and the year 9 students finished as runners-up which is an outstanding result considering they have not yet started their Business course.
They presented their business ideas to a panel of judges from ICAEW who were impressed by how professional their deliveries were. As well as communication skills the students had to work out the finances for their new businesses and be creative with business and product names. Overall the students gained a great deal from this event that they can take back to their business courses.
