Primary Basketball Final


The Stockton Schools Sport Partnership Year 5 and 6 primary schools Basketball finals took place on Wednesday 20th January 2016 at Marsh House Sports Centre. There were 11 schools involved in the event with 95 participants coming from Fairfield, Pentland, St. Patricks (Thornaby), Roseberry, Whinstone, Mill Lane, St. Pauls, Crooksbarn, St. Francis, Whitehouse and St. Josephs (Norton) schools. These schools had faced fierce competition in their previous cluster rounds to qualify for the Stockton final.

The event saw some brilliant dribbling, excellent teamwork, fantastic passing moves and some great shooting on display. After hard fought matches in the group stages, there were 3 winners from the groups and best placed runner up that contested in the semi-finals. The first semi-final was between Pentland and St. Josephs (Norton) with Pentalnd winning 6-2 in a tight encounter. The second semi-final was between St. Francis and Mill Lane with St. Francis winning 8-2 in another tight encounter match. So the final was between Pentland and St. Francis. St. Francis were the eventual  winners beating Pentland 4-2. In the 3rd v 4th playoff St. Josephs (Norton) came third beating Mill Lane 6-2 in a hard fought match.

Following this display of fantastic Basketball all the top 4 teams will go through and represent Stockton in the Tees Valley Finals on Thursday 11th February 2016 at Middlesbrough College.
