STEM Club Visit to Suez Recycling and Recovery Plant

On Tuesday 17th April Y7 & Y8 STEM club students visited Suez recycling and recovery plant at Haverton Hill to learn about how they create energy from waste. Suez provides innovative and environmentally-responsible solutions for the waste generated by households and businesses.

During the visit students got a tour of the waste bunker, flue gas treatment and furnace fire. They also took part in different activities including designing their own recycling facility for the future.

“I found it a very interesting day; I learnt that the plant generates 22.5 megawatts of energy which is enough to power 36,000 homes in a year.”

“I learnt how important recycling is and I will make sure people sort recycling properly at home.”
