V&A Museum Innovate Competition Finalists
Y8 students in the STEM club and Y9 GCSE Design & Technology students have recently entered a competition working in teams to design solutions to real-world problems. The V&A competition has had entries from 284 students from 63 teams across the country and the judges were incredibly impressed by the creativity, innovative approach and thoughtfulness of entries across the board and found it a very difficult judging process.
One of Northfield’s teams from the Y8 STEM club ‘Plastic Prevention’ have been selected as top ten finalists! The students had an idea to educate people about their use of plastic bags and have created a very impressive dress knitted with plastic bags to show how many are still being used in a local shop on a daily basis. They hope this will encourage people to ‘rethink’ and use more sustainable methods such as bags for life.
As finalists the ‘Plastic Prevention’ team have been invited to attend the V&A Pitching & Awards day, taking place at the V&A museum in London, South Kensington on 2nd March 2020. At this event, students will present their idea to the judges and be in with the chance of winning one of the V&A Innovate Awards & Prizes. Congratulations to the team and good luck in the finals!
