Y11 Student, Archie Harbottle, Successfully Gains Place at National Youth Theatre

Y11 GCSE Drama student Archie Harbottle has successfully been offered a place at the esteemed National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. Archie attended the audition, accompanied by his drama teacher, which was composed of a performance workshop, one to one interview and audition speech, in Newcastle in February. Over 10,000 young people attend the nationwide auditions with only 300 applicants gaining a place.

The National Youth Theatre is deemed one of the most honoured Youth Theatres in the world with award winning performers amongst its celebrated alumni including Dame Helen Mirren, Timothy Spall, Colin Firth, Michelle Dockery, David Walliams, Matt Lucas, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Matt Smith and this year’s Leading Actor BAFTA winner Adeel Akhtar.

Caroline Brown, Curriculum Leader for Drama noted ‘I am extremely proud of Archie. This is an incredible achievement and as NYT alumni I am very excited for everything Archie has ahead of him. I wish him every luck and success in his endeavours’.

Archie will attend a two week acting skills course with the National Youth Theatre in London during the summer.
