Y11 Students Survive and Conquer Their Silver DofE Expedition
During October half term Northfields staff and 26 year 11 students braved the cold elements for two nights camping and navigated themselves to success in completing their silver award expedition.
The award winners achieved their bronze award in June and continued learning camp craft skills and further developed map reading skills to enable them to complete the advanced level to Silver. They enjoy an opportunity to team build, which supported them throughout the weekend and kept moral high despite the cold weather.
Northfield School & Sports College has been recognised as a flagship school for the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme in the North East and has one of the highest success rates, which is seen by the increasing numbers of students taking part. The Duke of Edinburgh scheme is offered to Northfield year 10 and 11 students and this half term we have broken school records with 130 year 10 students opting to do the bronze award and 26 year 11 students completing their silver expedition.
Well done to our silver award winners!
