Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Taster Expedition

On Friday 29th September over 90 Northfield students and 20 staff took over the North Yorkshire Moors to start their Duke of Edinburgh bronze training.

Students experienced camping overnight and developed camp craft including putting up a tent, cooking and enjoyed navigating on an 8km hike.  With impressive views the students blossomed and worked well in their teams and encouraged each other through the mud.

The enthusiastic 14 to 15 year olds are now perfecting these skills in school with their DofE morning sessions on a Thursday and independently completing the other sections of the award before their next training outing in June, which is followed by their final expedition in July.

Well done to our new explorers!
