Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference

On Thursday 8th December, Miss Kirkbride and Mr Richardson took nine Year Nine students to a Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference at Framwellgate School.

Not knowing what to expect, we set off in heavy fog across Durham to find the school. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by the staff there from Humanutopia, who shook hands with each and every one of the 100 students who attended, from all over the North East. Our pupils rose spectacularly to the challenges presented on the day, with every single one of them speaking to an audience of over 125 people.

The course was deigned to build resilience and self-confidence in our young people; these are vital skills they need to be equipped with ready for life when they leave school.

Every students commented to staff that they felt they had taken something meaningful from the day and we will return to Framwellgate School in the new term to see how students have applied these skills to their everyday life. We look forward to working with Humanutopia and Framwellgate School in the months to come, to see how we can further collaborate to improve the mental health and wellbeing of our students.
