Northfield School Win Stockton School Games 2019
The annual Stockton school games took place on Tuesday 14th May at Grangefield School. Students from years 7 to 9 competed in a range of sports during the day. The year 8 boys cycling team won their event and will go on to represent Stockton at the Tees Valley Games in June.
Other success came in the archery event where Northfield archers won the gold medal beating Grangefield School in the final. The year 9 girls’ netball also won their event by winning every match played.
The year 8 girls cycling team finished in second place and the year 7 dodgeball and ultimate Frisbee teams both finished fifth out of 10 schools.
As well as scoring points for competing in events, competitors were also awarded points for demonstrating the School Games Values of determination, teamwork and honesty during their sports. Northfield did very well here coming first equal for determination, and second equal for both teamwork and honesty.
After combining all results, Northfield came out victorious, 20 points ahead of the second place school, Egglescliffe. It was a very enjoyable day for all who took part and we wish the year 8 boys cycling team every success in the next round!
